We build on tradition to transform our business towards a sustainable fashion future. From our head offices in Düsseldorf and Brussels, we are looking for an experienced, motivated, and engaging individual to become the face of sustainability in C&A’s own operations.

 

Your responsibilities at C&A

  • Become the face of sustainability in C&A’s operations, including stores, offices, and distribution centres
  • Work alongside a global team of sustainability experts to coordinate C&A’s response to the most pressing environmental issues of our time
  • Drive internal engagement and develop internal strategies to reduce the environmental impact of our retail operations, including energy, waste, and plastics and work to establish communities of expertise within C&A
  • Lead the consumer facing plastic elimination program, tracking the progress over time and ensuring the goals are met
  • Manage C&A’s in-store clothing take back programme to contribute to our goals around textile waste and recycling
  • Build a sector leading energy strategy for our own sites, guiding and managing internal stakeholders, and engaging external services if required
  • Provide technical and practical guidance to Property and Procurement departments on energy management and monitoring
  • Lead a programme to reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions as a part of our wider efforts to achieve our Science Based Targets
  • Keep abreast of legislation such as the EU Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS), driving compliance throughout the organization
     

 What we expect of you

  • 10+ years of in-house environmental or sustainability management experience, with a preference for candidates with experience working in energy management/ procurement, on-site environmental/waste management
  • An evidenced interest in sustainability and a desire to do the right thing
  • Extensive project management experience and a track record of the successful implementation of strategies & plans
  • Experience either in the fashion industry, other retail, logistics or equivalent sectors preferred, but not essential
  • Ability to obtain buy-in and get things done within a complex, multi-national organisation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. German also a plus
