This position is a fixed term contract for 2 years.

 

The Junior Environmental Sustainability manager will focus on plastic reduction and sustainable substitution options, as well as on further development of C&A’s waste management. Additionally, he/she leads C&A’s garment collection program “WE take it back”.  To achieve the objectives the Junior Environmental Sustainability Manager works closely together with internal partners, such as the national Facility Managers and Building departments, Logistics, Buying,  PACKLAB, as well as, other European-wide departments like  Store Design and Real Estate.

 

Your responsibilities at C&A

  • Drive the consumer facing plastic elimination program, track progress over time – ensure that goals are met
  • Lead C&AS’s In-store Takeback programme
  • Serve as technical consultant on all aspects of environmental topics
  •  Manage contracts with service providers in conjunction with store operations, DCs and logistics (PPAs, waste hauling/recycling, etc.).
  • Participate as C&A representative for retail operations for the topics waste and plastic in the innovator program at Fashion for Good
  • Develop EU Waste policies and establish expert community within C&A to stimulate ownership, cross country teamwork and best practice exchange
  • Benchmark waste consumptions against best practice standards;
  • Develop, coordinate and implement strategies and policies to reduce waste  consumption
  • Keep abreast of legislation such as the EU Emission Trading Scheme (EU  ETS) and ensuring compliance throughout the organization

 

 

What we expect of you

  • University Degree in Environmental Sustainability or comparable
  • Some experience in waste management (workshops, etc)
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to obtain buy-in and get things done
  • Structured and organized
  • Action / implementation oriented
  • Fluent in English, any additional EU language is a plus
