Data is the lifeblood of business operations, and the efficiencies driven by new ways to create, target and optimize the data and information life cycle are the subject to our data governance and data ethics efforts. As a sustainable fashion retailer – we have the highest standards in our sourcing activities, and we set the same expectations for our data mechanisms. Therefore, we are growing our team to stay ahead of the curve for the relevant data developments.
This role is based in our head office in Düsseldorf.
Your responsibilities at C&A:
- Develop and Implement Data governance/ data ethics framework: Develop and implement a data governance/ data ethics framework that defines the policies, processes, and procedures for managing data across the organization.
- Establish Data governance/ data ethics Council: Establish a data governance/ data ethics council and facilitate council meetings to review and approve data governance/ data ethics policies, standards, and procedures.
- Manage Data governance/ data ethics Tools and Technologies: Manage data governance/ data ethics tools and technologies that support the data governance/ data ethics program. Evaluate and select tools and technologies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Develop and Maintain Data Catalog: Develop and maintain a data catalog that provides a comprehensive inventory of all data assets across the organization. Ensure that data is properly classified and labeled for easy identification and access.
- Define Data Quality Standards: Define data quality standards and ensure that data is accurate, complete, consistent, and timely. Develop and implement data quality controls to monitor and improve data quality.
- Manage Data Security and Privacy: Manage data security and privacy to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and implement data security and privacy policies and controls to mitigate data breaches and cyber threats.
- Develop and Deliver Data governance/ data ethics Training: Develop and deliver data governance/ data ethics training to educate stakeholders on the importance of data governance/ data ethics and the policies, standards, and procedures that support it. Ensure that stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the data governance/ data ethics program.
- Monitor and Report on Data governance/ data ethics Metrics: Monitor and report on data governance/ data ethics metrics to track the effectiveness of the data governance/ data ethics program. Use metrics to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.
- Develop Data governance/ data ethics Policies: Develop data governance/ data ethics policies that define the standards, processes, and procedures for managing data across the organization.

Establish Data governance/ data ethics Roles and Responsibilities: Establish data governance/ data ethics roles and responsibilities to ensure that stakeholders are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the data governance/ data ethics program.

Establish Data governance/ data ethics Stakeholder Engagement: Establish data governance/ data ethics stakeholder engagement to ensure that stakeholders are engaged and supportive of the data governance/ data ethics program.

Develop and Implement Data governance/ data ethics Procedures: Develop and implement data governance/ data ethics procedures that define the processes and procedures for managing data across the organization.

Develop Data governance/ data ethics KPIs: Develop data governance/ data ethics KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the data governance/ data ethics program and provide insights into areas for improvement.

Manage Data governance/ data ethics Budget: Manage the data governance/ data ethics budget to ensure that resources are allocated appropriately and effectively. Develop and manage budgets for data governance/ data ethics tools, technologies, training, and staffing.

Provide Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership on data governance/ data ethics best practices and industry trends. Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and regulations that impact data governance/ data ethics and leverage that knowledge to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
What we expect from you:
- Be an effective leader who can inspire and motivate the team, set clear goals and expectations, and provide direction and guidance. You should have the ability to create a vision for the data governance/ data ethics program and communicate it effectively to stakeholders across the organization.
- You use your excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to explain complex data governance/ data ethics concepts in a clear and concise manner and to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- A strong technical background in data management and data governance/ data ethics with a deep understanding of data architecture, data modeling, data quality, data security, and data privacy.
- Strong analytical skills and be able to interpret and analyze complex data to identify trends and patterns. They should be able to make data-driven decisions and provide insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You have experience in planning, executing, and monitoring projects and you are able to manage resources effectively.
- You easily build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization and be able to collaborate effectively with other departments and teams. That includes that you can work effectively with business leaders, IT teams, legal, and compliance teams to ensure that the data governance/ data ethics program is aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
