Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
As a Solution Architect, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical strategy and driving engineering excellence within product teams. You will lead technical challenges within the Merchandizing domain, collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and hands-on development teams, ensuring that scalable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions are implemented. Your role will include mentoring engineers, guiding architectural decisions, and fostering a culture of innovation and technical ownership.
Your responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and architectural guidance within product teams to design, develop, and deliver scalable and maintainable software solutions
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise-wide technical strategies and best practices
- Actively contribute to coding, code reviews, and debugging to maintain a high-quality engineering culture
- Advocate for and implement best practices in software development, security, and DevOps
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, QA engineers, and Enterprise Architects to deliver high-impact solutions
- Engage in engineering guilds and communities of practice to drive technical alignment across teams
- Mentor and support the career growth of engineers, helping them develop technical skills
- Foster a learning culture by conducting technical workshops, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Identify technical debt and propose strategies for sustainable modernization
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in system design, testing, and performance optimization
- Encourage experimentation, risk-taking, and innovation within engineering teams
What you bring
- Expertise in like Python, Scala, Java, Go, Ruby, etc. Microservices, distributed systems, and big data technologies like Kafka and Spark
- Strong understanding of scalability, security, and software architecture best practices including high availability and disaster recovery patterns
- Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead complex technical initiatives
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work across multiple teams and disciplines
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure, or OpenStack
- Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
- 10–14 years of experience in software engineering, with a track record of delivering high-quality solutions
- Experience working in an agile, product-driven environment
- Contributions to engineering excellence through technical leadership, advocacy, and innovation initiatives
- Experience with modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, observability)
- Hands-on experience with test-driven development (TDD), BDD, and performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner
- Nice to have: Experience with integration with SAP S/4Hana and BTP
